Yesterday my friend Chuck and I ran in the Carlsbad 5000.
The weather was great, the atmosphere, exciting. The course is really second to none, in my mind. From downtown Carlsbad you head south down the coast to Tamarak and then north along the ocean sea wall. The setting was perfect. It was well attended by the spectators and they chanted at different spots along the way. A good time was had by all.
The race draws entrants from all over as it claims to be the world's fastest 5K. It's a very short race compared to a half or full marathon (I also ran in the L.A. marathon in 2002 - totally different story!)
As far as our time goes, well let's just say, this year we ran just for the fun of it, next year we'll take it a little more seriously.
